It is made up of Oxfam GB, the Overseas Development Institute (ODI), Save the Children Alliance, Care International and World Vision International and funded by DFID. We are carrying out research on existing Disaster Risk Reduction, Social Protection and Livelihoods programme interventions in Ethiopia, Uganda and Mozambique.

Summary: The proposed project will involve building the capacity of journalists to practice effective climate change journalism that will enhance the role of media in climate change reporting. About 40 Ethiopian journalists will participate in the training workshop. The training will be organized in close collaboration with the Ethiopian Civil Societies Network on Climate Change (ECSNCC). During the two day training period, the journalists will listen to presentations that address the main themes of climate change. They further will hear from fellow media practitioners on how to remain up-to-date and accurate in the face of a dynamic subject and with limited resources to attend all major meetings. In addition to that, trainees will receive an orientation on new media and use of ICTs e.g. use of digital recorders to provide material for YouTube, podcasts, and to develop social media skills e.g. writing blogs, making use of twitter etc.
