AfricaAdapt Meet and Greet in Uganda

AfricaAdapt held a meet and greet for its Ugandan members on the side of the 29th Greater Horn of Africa Climate Outlook Forum (GHACOF29) which took place from 1-3 September 2011 in Entebbe, Uganda. The Forum which was officially opened by Hon. Flavia Munaaba, Minister of State for Environment of Uganda, brought together 150 participants including climate scientists and climate information users from various sectors including disaster risk management, water resources, agriculture and food security, health, and development.
Thirteen members of AfricaAdapt took part in GHACOF29 and the Meet and Greet which was convened during one of the breakout sessions of the forum. During the meet and greet, members were briefed on the achievements of AfricaAdapt in Phase 1, activities planned for Phase 2, and shown how to use the network’s website. One key outcome of the event was a resolution to establish an AfricaAdapt chapter in Uganda. Congratulations Uganda!

The forum and the meet and greet event provided a good opportunity for members to get to know each other and discuss possibilities for further collaboration as well as to learn more about seasonal climate prediction and disaster risk management.
